Hippocampus, Commissioned Work
Commissioned by Architectural Cladding Systems
The Hippocampus is a mythological creature that is half horse, half fish. He cavorts and frolics through the waves and is the favorite steed of the classical sea god Neptune. Jeff depicted the Hippocampus in his underwater lair surrounded by coral and fish with a repeating scallop shell frame. The relief measures 4' 10'' wide x 3' 4'' high and is cast in Forton (exterior, fiberglass reinforced gypsum). The original piece was sculpted in clay.
